TIL Sarajevo Rose

The concrete scar floral patterns of mortar shells found in the streets in Sarajevo are filled with red resin and made into memorials called “Sarajevo Rose”

The capture of Ratko Mladic, the highest ranking war criminal from the Balkan war , brings relief to many. But for others, its a reminder and a lesson of the horrors of war.

In Sarajevo, memorials are made as a tribute to the victims. The image below is one of them. It’s called the Sarajevo Rose.

May we never forget Sarajevo.
