Today I Learned There is a Site that Unshortens URLS

Finally a great tool that unshortens URLS that can play a major role in prevent in spam, phishing, and malware.

Shortened URLs have been around for quite some time and are quite useful when long URLs become a hassle. Sites like twitter actually use these types of shortened URLs because it saves text space. The downside to this method, is that the shortened URL becomes disguised so you don’t know what kind of site you’ll be taken to.

A shortened URL will look like this: http://bit.ly/mbGg2m but in actuality it will take you to http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/05/20/48hours/main20064774.shtml
